When can I get Shady Hill chicken?

We started a waitlist. Here’s why:

Chris and I just finished our second season of pasture-raising nonGMO-fed whole chickens. Literally butchered on 11/4/24. Though we packaged up 35 whole chickens, we have none left to sell. We sold so much this year that we had to keep the last flock to ourselves so we would have chicken for our family through the winter. We have had to turn people away and it makes us so sad to do that.

Chickens, for our community, will be back in Spring 2025. It takes 6-8 weeks to raise a chicken for meat, and we can only raise them in the warmer months since they are always on grass. We start chickens in March, so May is when we butcher, package, and start selling. We have goals to raise more chickens, but it is all dependent on if we can find land. As a young farmer (first-gen at that), we are struggling to find land to lease or a farm to purchase that works for our family. So if you know someone or a place… let us know!

We hope to bring our dream to expand to reality in 2025, so we can keep supplying you with chicken throughout the year.

From your feedback, we know you love the taste and quality of this product that our family loves too. Explore our recipes, see how we raise chickens, and join our 2025 whole chicken waitlist, so you can get “first dibs” on whole birds next spring!
